Kinetische Objektenshow, by Cor Blok, is a Special edition Dutch-language book of 64 pages published in 1969.
Description from the seller
The Kinetic Object Show was an avant-garde traveling exhibition in 1969, entirely dedicated to moving artworks (kinetic art) and optical effects. [1, 2]
The exhibition toured several Dutch museums at the time, including De Hallen / Frans Halsmuseum in Haarlem, the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, the Groninger Museum, and Rijksmuseum Twenthe in Enschede.
• Interaction and Sound: The exhibition challenged the traditional museum experience. A well-known example was an art siren in the Vleeshal (Haarlem) that howled every five minutes and could be heard far beyond the museum on the market.
• Artists and Works: 27 visual artists participated, including the artist duo Frans en Marja de Boer Lichtveld. Also the renowned experimental group Eventstructure Research Group (Jeffrey Shaw, Theo Botschuijver and Sean Wellesley-Miller) showcased their work Pneutube: a gigantic inflatable PVC tube that visitors could enter.
• The Catalogue: The exhibition is also remembered for its iconic, innovative catalogue. It featured a Perspex cover with a lenticular design. By moving the catalogue, an optical illusion of rotating discs emerged, which perfectly aligned with the kinetic theme of the show. The texts and introductions were provided by Cor Blok and D. Schwagermann
