Description from the seller

This is a medieval knife (often referred to as a Flemish knife or a table knife) dating from around 1500 (late 15th or early 16th century).

Dimensions: 18.7 x 1.9 x 0.8 cm
Weight: 30.45 g

Condition: restored – conserved

- found in two pieces (the hilt was loose from the blade). It has been remounted.
- maker's mark on the blade present

The blade: An iron or steel blade with a sharp cutting edge and a narrow, pointed tip. Often on this type of blade there is a small smith's mark or stamp (a 'house mark') struck into it.

The grip: The handle consists of two wooden scales (handle plates) that are attached to the continuous metal tang with copper or brass rivets (the visible yellow dots).

The heel cap and pommel: At the beginning and end of the handle are decorative components made of a copper alloy (bronze or brass). The end cap (pommel) features a typical geometric or engraved medieval motif.
