Description from the seller
BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO DOCG
2009
The Brunello di Montalcino Biondi-Santi is the first Brunello in history and for 150 years has embodied the vision that in the nineteenth century inspired Clemente Santi in creating his first expression. Today, as then, it is a distinguished wine, with a complex and refined personality.
THE VINTAGE 2009
Wet spring and June, July and August were dry. The harvest began on September 17 with dry and cool conditions.
THE SOURCE
The 2009 Brunello was produced with the Sangiovese Grosso clone BBS11 (Brunello Biondi Santi 11), identified and selected by Biondi-Santi at Tenuta Greppo in the seventies. For this Brunello, grapes from vines over 10 years old were used, including the oldest which are usually destined for Riserva production.
THE AGING
The Brunello 2009 was aged for 3 years in Slavonian oak casks. It benefited from a very long bottle aging.
EMOTION
Elegant and deep, the 2009 Brunello is a true “gentleman’s wine” with a bouquet of undergrowth and red fruits, underscored by warm balsamic sensations and elegant hints of flint. On the palate it impresses with its statuesque vertical structure and vibrant freshness, while the finish offers sweet notes of tobacco and leather.
