Description from the seller
Henri Bergson
Autograph letter signed to Mr. Lechartier from Saint-Cergue, Switzerland, on August 4, 1926. 1 page 1/2 in-8. Good condition
"Dear Sir,
I wish to thank you for the kind sending of your beautiful articles and to tell you with what interest I have read them. It was impossible to analyze with more penetration the turn that has occurred in American opinion since the war. You uncover the causes and bring them to light. May the advice you give be heeded!
Thank you for your kind reference to what I was able to do during the war, and very friendly yours."
Notes: The philosopher Bergson accepted in 1917 a mission from the French government to persuade the United States to enter the war against Germany. He will also resolutely engage, once peace is achieved, in the effort of international intellectual cooperation led by the League of Nations.
