Upholstery fabric from the MEGREZ collection by Via Roma, 60, made of 100% polyester and characterized by a sophisticated chenille effect with lurex coating, capable of combining a soft, tactile surface with delicate metallic reflections.

One of the most interesting features of MEGREZ is the possibility to aesthetically enhance both sides of the fabric, obtaining two very different interpretations of the same material.

The main side presents a luminous pearl gray / light silver tone, crossed by irregular shading that ranges from ice white to the deeper gray. The special lurex coating creates a suggestive spatulated and slightly lived effect, with metallized areas distributed in deliberately irregular ways that confer depth and movement to the surface.

The opposite side, visible in the images, offers a decidedly more sober and natural aesthetics: a very light shade between pearl, ice and very pale gray, with slight marbling and a smoother, softer, predominantly matte surface. The absence of the strong metallized effect of the right side allows for a more delicate and minimalist result, while maintaining the pleasant tactile quality of the textile structure.

This particular double rendition allows MEGREZ to be interpreted in different ways within the same project: brighter and more scenographic on the lurex side, more natural and essential on the light side.

Two sides, two different interpretations
The lurex-coated side represents MEGREZ’s more decorative version. The pattern consists of veils, shades and apparently irregular blocks, creating a contemporary surface that visually recalls light stone, patinated metal and spatulated decorative finishes.

When hit by light, some portions acquire a brighter, silvery sheen, while others remain more opaque. On folds and curved surfaces this contrast becomes even more evident, particularly enhancing cushions, seats and padded elements.

The opposite side offers a completely different reading. The surface appears lighter, more delicate and homogeneous, with a pearl-ice tone accompanied by subtle gray variations. The result is less brilliant and more discreet, especially suited for environments where a soft, bright and minimal-looking upholstery is desired.

This very contrast makes the fabric interesting also for projects where one desires to play with both sides, creating coordinated pairings without introducing different materials.

Note on using the two sides

The side with the lurex coating represents the most characteristic surface of the fabric, while the opposite side presents a lighter and more sober finish which, for its pleasant aesthetic result, can be used as a visible surface in many decorative projects.

The possibility of using the reverse as a decorative surface is described here based on the visible performance of the material; if it is technically necessary to consider it as a certified double-faced fabric by the manufacturer, it is advisable to refer to the original Via Roma, 60 technical data sheet.

The special lurex finish can also display different reflections and intensities depending on the light direction and viewing angle. Likewise, the light side may appear more white, pearl or slightly gray depending on the lighting.
