Ten original Burmese amber pieces from Myanmar dating to the Cretaceous Cenomanian (ca. 99 million years ago) with fossil insects and plant inclusions; polished, natural in condition, authenticity original, total weight 9.95 g, specimen: Burmesischer Bernstein (Burmit).
Description from the seller
A lot consisting of 10 original Burmese ambers from Myanmar, dating to the Cretaceous, with various fossil insects and plant inclusions. The total weight is 9.95 g.
The collection includes several fossil Diptera (true flies), among them a particularly well-visible specimen with preserved wings, visible venation, segmented body, and fine appendages. Other ambers show smaller insects, plant fragments, and different organic structures.
Especially interesting is a fossil leaf fragment with clearly recognizable reticulate venation, as well as an amber with numerous dark, round inclusions. The different preservation forms offer an interesting glimpse into the fossil life of the Cretaceous.
Details:
Origin: Myanmar (Burma)
Age: approx. 99 million years
Time period: Cretaceous / Cenomanian
Total weight: 9.95 g
Polished for better viewing of the inclusions
Notes on identification:
The assignment of individual insects to Diptera is based on the visible morphological characteristics. A further determination to the family or genus level is intentionally not made, as additional diagnostic features would need to be examined.
The ambers show natural resin structures, gas bubbles, organic particles, and minor irregularities. These are characteristic components of fossil amber.
The combination of different insects, plant inclusions, and natural resin structures makes this lot a varied collection from the Cretaceous.
You will receive exactly the ten ambers shown in the pictures.
