Description from the seller
Lost Wax Cast Brass Alloy Artifact — Fascinating brass statuette depicting Panchamukhi Hanuman, the five-faced form of Hanuman, one of the most important and venerated figures in Hindu tradition. Hanuman, a monkey-faced deity and protagonist of the epic Ramayana, is traditionally associated with strength, courage, loyalty, and devotion. In the particular Panchamukhi iconography, the figure presents five faces arranged around the central head, a symbolic expression of the different manifestations and protective qualities of the deity. The sculpture shows Hanuman seated in a composed posture, surrounded by numerous arms holding various ritual and symbolic attributes. Among these is recognizable the characteristic gada, the mace traditionally associated with Hanuman, visible beside the figure. The composition is further enhanced by the broad circular halo placed behind the five heads and by the rich decoration of the garments, jewelry, and ornaments. The brass craftsmanship creates a luminous surface with warm golden tones, highlighting the intricate iconographic apparatus. An interesting object of Indian decorative and religious art, suitable both for a collection dedicated to Eastern culture and as a furniture element with strong symbolic meaning.
