Villeroy and Boch Botanica

Series like the Villeroy and Boch tableware Botanica enchant to this day with their fine elegance and nostalgic decor. Villeroy and Boch Botanica invites you on a fascinating journey of discovery into the romantic world of flowers and herbs. As the name already suggests, the Botanica tableware depicts playful motifs from botany. This meticulously detailed porcelain range exudes the wild beauty and plant richness of untouched nature.

Each individual piece of the Botanica set bears, as a handwritten addition, the Latin designation of the respective flower or herb depicted. This hand-scripted label, together with the detailed drawings, recalls the science of nature from times past, when modern photography, image editing and word processing were not yet available. The high level of craftsmanship in accurately depicting the plant parts is perfectly reflected in the Villeroy and Boch Botanica tableware. It gives this old series a touch of nostalgia, romance and wild beauty.

Seller's Story

Andrea Krauß counts among the striking figures of contemporary German painting. The recipient of the AOK Nordost Art Prize (Berlin/Brandenburg) and former fellow of the renowned Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop completed her studies at the Braunschweig University of Art. For many years she has consistently dedicated herself to painting and today lives and works in her studio in the heart of Berlin. At the center of her artistic work lies the connection between memory, atmosphere and landscape. Starting from personal impressions, Andrea Krauß develops imagery that points beyond the individual and touches universal experiences of nature, space and transience. Recurring motifs are especially birches and other elements of nature, whose quiet presence merges with traces of human shaping and memory. Characteristic of her works is the layered combination of painting and drawing. In her acrylic paintings, fine relief structures arise through the use of sand, spatula techniques and integrated lines, giving the works a special tactile quality and spatial depth. The lines drawn directly into the color layers act like inscribed memories and shape the artist’s unmistakable handwriting. Andrea Krauß’s works have been presented in galleries, museums and renowned exhibitions and today reside in numerous private collections. Her works impress with their poetic force, their atmospheric density, and the sensitive connection between nature observation and personal memory.
