Description from the seller
Antique k.u.k. Prunk-Bierkrug „Znaimer Radfahrklub“ – dated 1895
Rare, historic ornate beer stein from the pioneering era of cycling before the turn of the century. This exceptional glass stein is an official prize or an exclusive gift of the „Znaimer Radfahrklub“ from the year 1895.
The fine engraving on the profiled tin lid records the early club history of the traditional town of Znaim (South Moravia) in the k.u.k. monarchy. A particularly striking feature is the elaborately formed thumb press in the shape of a mascaron face in Neo-Renaissance style. The hinge mounting sits firmly on the solid glass handle. An absolute highlight for collectors of k.u.k. memorabilia, regionalia from South Moravia / Lower Austria, and enthusiasts of historic cycling antiques.
