Specimen Ślimak morski, scientific name S-582 CHARONIA TRITONIS; 1 item from Africa, year 2019, in good condition, authentic original, weight 416 g.
Description from the seller
Beautiful, in perfect condition, beautifully colored, a very large XXL shell Charonia Tritonis - common name Triton trumpet or giant Triton, this is a species of a very large sea snail, a mollusk from the family Charoniidae, the tritons. It is one of the largest mollusks on a coral reef. The shell is thick and heavy, strongly spiraled in the shape of an elongated tower. It ends sharply at the top, gradually widening toward the aperture.
Strongly ribbed, with pronounced spiral ribs and nodules. The color of the shell is most often yellowish, creamy or brown with irregular darker spots and streaks. The aperture (shell opening) is large, wide, oval.
The interior is smooth, often orange, pink or reddish-brown, contrasting with the exterior side of the shell. The outer lip is thick, sometimes wavy, often with delicate serrations.
Distinctive features - due to its large size and characteristic structure, it has been used in many cultures as a wind instrument (shell-trumpet).
It is valued by collectors and has significance in art and rituals. Dimensions - 110×155×315mm. I highly recommend it to collectors and interior decorators.
