Through large-format silver-based photographs and Polaroids, Marc Lagrange essentially dedicated his art to fixing the image of the female body. His photographs of female nudes and portraits, imbued with eroticism and sensuality, thus align, with much less notoriety, with photographers such as Helmut Newton or Irving Penn from whom he drew inspiration.
If his work mainly consisted of interrogating the relationship to the female body — as in God Created… Women, where he questions the position of religion regarding the female body and the sexual dimension of humanity — he was attentive to detail, working on staging and seeking to tell a story through the medium of photography.
