Bembe - DR Congo

It is a rectangle with a slight curvature, finished with a rounded forehead beneath which two enormous orbits culminate in two large, open eyes. The entire area of the face between the nose and the beard is covered with scarifications. Around the mask there is a raffia collar-beard with pendants made of seed half-masks forming little bells. It is an exceptional piece for its rarity and showiness.
