Description from the seller
Monni “Scuoio” – Classic Knife of the Sardinian Pastoral Tradition
Description
Splendid handmade knife crafted by Monni in the early 2000s, faithful interpreter of the most authentic pastoral tradition of Sardinia.
The model "Scuoio" is one of the most characteristic knives of Sardinia's agro-pastoral culture, conceived as a daily working tool for shepherds. It was used in rural activities, in the processing of pastoral products and, as per ancient custom, also to eat meals during the long days spent in the pastures, cutting bread, cheeses and cured meats.
The imposing handle is carved from a genuine natural ram horn, a material deeply tied to the island’s tradition and particularly appreciated for its beauty and uniqueness. Each piece presents irreplicable grain, colors and shapes that make the knife unique.
The 9 cm blade in satin stainless steel offers robustness, practicality and elegance, recalling the essential lines of traditional Sardinian knives.
A distinctive feature of this model is the absence of a sheath: the sheath is not provided by the knife’s original configuration, being traditionally carried in the pocket by shepherds and used as a personal utensil for daily use.
A magnificent example of contemporary Sardinian cutlery, ideal for collectors and enthusiasts of Italian regional traditions.
