Description from the seller
Selling here as well our family heritage, a beautiful, original Art Deco piece from the glassworks of François-Théodore Legras (Saint-Denis, France, period ca. 1900–1910) in a rare, magnificent color variant.
- An original Art Nouveau potpourri glass container (or a rosewater/scent salt vessel) from the François-Théodore Legras manufactory, made around 1910.
This vessel embodies the typical craftsmanship repertoire of Legras:
• The glass body: a bulbous, acid-matt glass with the popular, strong color gradient from an opaque cream tone to a bright Orange-Vibré at the base. On the front is the original, characteristic brush signature “Leg.” in brown.
• The decoration: a raised, thickly applied enamel painting showing autumn leaves (vine leaves or chestnut style) and dark berries.
• The metal cap: a rare, original insert cap with decorative cut-out pattern (lattice work). This served to let dried flowers, spices, or fragrance blends inside subtly release their aroma into the room.
- Details & features: • Artist/Manufacturer: François-Théodore Legras (1839–1916) TOP condition!
