Description from the seller

The Denon DP 6000 was offered in the late seventies as a modular system. I.e., the delivery included only the player itself, without the cabinet and the tonearm. These could be chosen according to preference, taste and budget. The player offered here comes in the following audiophile configuration:

-- DP 6000 player
-- DK 300 cabinet
-- SME 3009 S2 S-shaped tonearm
-- Audio Technica AT VM95 (mm) cartridge

The DP 6000 is a high-end, direct-drive turntable with quartz locking (Quartz Lock) and a speed monitoring system designed by Denon itself that continuously checks the set speed and adjusts as needed. The roots of these 6000s lie with professional turntables used, among others, in radio studios. The powerful AC servo motor ensures the turntable is up to speed immediately, and the electronically controlled brake brings the 1.8 kg platter to a stop in two counts. Via the built-in strobe you can, if desired, increase or decrease the speed up to 6% (Pitch Control). As with many high-end players, this top Denon is also fully manually operated.

The Denon DK 300 cabinet in which this DP 6000 is housed gives the whole thing a classic appearance thanks to the Bubinga wood coating. Thanks to its own weight of almost 10 kg combined with four height-adjustable damping feet, any vibrations are eliminated. For the dust cover, a smoked glass specimen was chosen; unfortunately it did not survive its long journey from Japan without some damage. The recommendation is to replace it. Faux dust covers for the Denon DP 6000 are still available.

As the tonearm, the high-end lightweight SME 3009 S2 (the improved version) was chosen—one of the most iconic and legendary precision tonearms in the history of analog audio! The arm tube, made of polished and anodized aluminum, is internally lined with a fiber-wood veneer to damp unwanted resonances. Fully adjustable overhang (via a movable base), cantilever downforce (VTF), vertical angle (VTA) and lateral balance.

The Audio Technica AT VM95 C/H cartridge mounted on a titanium headshell belongs to Audio-Technica’s mid-range and features a dual magnet design for accurate stereo playback. The soundstage is detailed, clear and dynamic. With a frequency response of 20–22,000 Hz, this brand-new cartridge brings music to life.

As you can see in the photos, this amazing high-end player is still in wonderfully beautiful external condition. Almost no signs of use, a beauty to behold! Internally, this top player is (of course) in top condition as well. As is RiVe’s practice, every item going up for auction first goes to RiVe’s fixed service technician. The motor was lubricated, the motor shaft cleaned, and all electronics including print boards checked. Only after the technician is 100% satisfied is the item offered for auction so you can bid with peace of mind. Because this is a player that was only produced for the Japanese domestic market (100 volts), a step-down converter (220/240V → 100V) is required. RiVe always includes this with the purchase.

If you want to see the player “in action,” check RiVe’s own YouTube channel by entering RiVe Vintage Audio in the search bar. In addition to flawless operation, you can also view the cosmetic condition.
