A large, hallmark Art Deco Prunkteller by Koninklijke Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland Gouda, 38 cm diameter, 38 cm depth, 6 cm tall, in good used condition with minor signs of aging and fully hand-signed provenance including model 5110/35 and the UNICA designation.
Description from the seller
An exceptionally large and rare showpiece plate from the world-famous Dutch ceramic manufacturer Koninklijke Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland (Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland) in Gouda.
This masterpiece comes from the exclusive “UNICA” line. That means it is a true one-of-a-kind piece. The ceramic painter did not copy a predefined serial decoration, but designed and painted the piece entirely by hand.
The expressive motif features opulent blue flowers (thistle- or sunflower-like) with fine yellow and brown details on a warm ocher-orange background. The relief-like, wavy, serrated edge is adorned with a surrounding geometric-floral band in green and cream-white. The exterior is finished in an elegant, satin-matte petrol- or sea green glaze.
The underside is entirely hand-signed and documents the authentic provenance:
• Model number 5110/35 (with the 35 indicating the impressive diameter)
• The rare inscription “UNICA”
• The official factory mark of the PZH (stylized house symbol)
• The origin designation “Kon: Plazuid Gouda Holland”
• The artist’s personal monogram/painter’s mark at the bottom.
An impressive, museal collectible for lovers of high-quality Dutch studio ceramics and mid-century design.
