Description from the seller
1- Antique painting 'Madonna dell'Olivo' by N. Barabino – Late 19th / Early 20th century with Gold Frame
Splendid devotional antique painting depicting the famous 'Madonna dell'Olivo' (also known as Madonna dei Limoni), based on the original work by the renowned Ligurian painter Nicolò Barabino (1832–1891).
The work shows a very sweet depiction of the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus, wrapped in a light drapery. At her feet stand out elements of the author's figurative tradition, such as olive branches and citrus fruits.
The period chromolithographic print is enriched by a sage green mat and framed in a precious contemporaneous wooden carved and gilded frame, characterized by rich relief patterns in classical motifs.
A piece of great charm and atmosphere, perfect for collectors of sacred art, antique lovers, or to adorn environments with a classic and rustic style.
General condition good for age. The frame presents a splendid patina of time with slight and natural signs of wear that attest to its authenticity.
Measurements: 30x50x3.5; Weight 1.3 kg
2- Painting with an antique print 'The Angel Playing the Lute' by V. Carpaccio – Frame in carved and gilded wood
Splendid decorative painting reproducing one of the most famous and fascinating details of Venetian art history: the singing angel playing the lute, taken from the masterpiece 'Presentazione di Gesù al Tempio' (1510) by master Vittore Carpaccio (the original is kept at the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice).
The print faithfully reproduces the chiaroscuro and grace of the Renaissance painting, including the artist's original cartouche visible on the step (Victor Carpathius MDX).
The real strength of this object is the refined vintage solid wood frame, characterized by an elegant geometric carving and enriched with profiles and details in gold leaf (Florentine/Renaissance style). The painting is equipped with front protective glass and its original upper metal hanger, ready to hang.
Carved wood with gilded finishes. Reproduction of the detail of the Angel with the lute by Vittore Carpaccio.
Perfect to enrich walls of entrances, salons, studies or to make a refined gift for enthusiasts of classical art and vintage objects.
