GERO - Dick Simonis - Cutlery set for 12 (85) - Distinction (230) - Silverplated

Model 230 Distinction was designed in 1952 for Gero by industrial designer Dick Simonis.
The model breaks with the traditional busy shapes or fillet edges. It has an extremely streamlined, slim and functional look. The stems of the spoons and forks are relatively thin but sturdy and flow smoothly into a rounded, smooth end. It is a textbook example of Mid-Century Modern Dutch Design.

Nice condition, signs of wear appropriate to age, no silver damage, extensive contents and in a very luxurious hardwood case. An older version in the then-standard Plate 90 silvering.
