Antique mechanical tabletop alarm clock in metal with a 24‑hour dial, estimated to date from 1900–1910 and made in Germany; it is in working order, has a multi‑day power reserve, and includes a winding key with no striking chime.
Description from the seller
Antique mechanical desktop clock with a 24-hour dial – early 20th century
Elegant and distinctive mechanical table clock, presumably of European manufacture, dating from the early part of the 20th century.
The clock features a refined argentite metal architectural case, with a front panel in richly decorative gilded metal with embossed ornamental motifs.
Main features:
* Era: circa 1900–1920 (stylistic attribution).
* Origin: Germany, manufacturer not identified.
* Materials: plated metal and gilded metal, probably brass.
* Movement: manual winding mechanical.
* Operation: functioning.
* Dial: black Roman numerals I–XII and red numeration for 13–24.
* Auxiliary dials: two small circular indicators, located at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock respectively.
* Structure: rectangular case with shaped base, metal handle on top, rear hinged panel to access the movement.
Description
Particularly interesting is the dial, characterized by the double hour numbering and the presence of two auxiliary counters, elements that give the clock a technical and refined appearance.
The case presents a pleasant chromatic combination between the silvered surfaces and the gilded decorations, with ornamental workmanship typical of period clockmaking.
The mechanical movement is visible through the hinged rear panel, which allows observation of the gears and internal structure.
Condition of preservation
The clock is functioning.
Shows normal signs of age, patina, small oxidation and signs of use consistent with its age.
The dial retains its original characteristic numeration in appearance, with aging marks visible.
The long-term accuracy of timekeeping has not been verified.
Conclusion
An interesting specimen of antique mechanical clockmaking, particularly decorative and suitable for collectors of antique clocks, time-measuring instruments and historical objects.
The photographs are an integral part of the description and document the actual condition of the object.
The clock will be carefully packed for shipping.
