AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

An 80 mm Polarex (Nihon Seiko) spotting scope in near-new condition.

The spotting scope is branded Perl. Perl was a French telescope brand. They distributed Japanese telescopes from brands such as Polarex, Royal Astro, Tasco, Vixen, etc., under their own brand name.

This spotting scope has a small sticker with the initials NS, standing for Nihon Seiko.

The 80mm lens is an air-spaced doublet with a 20x/60x ocular zoom. The optics are pristine.

The mount is the classic Polarex alt-azimuth mount with fine adjustment on both axes, all held to the recognizable wooden tripod by a chain.

The spotting scope comes in two original cardboard boxes.

Everything is in near-new condition with no scratches or signs of use. A rare collector’s item but also perfectly usable. I have used it under the stars. For 40 years I have been using and trading Polarex - Unitron telescopes. This spotting scope is exceptional in its condition but because of the wooden telescope tripod. Most spotting scopes have a low table tripod.
