Description from the seller
Antique desk inkwell with functioning clock and a horseman on horseback – early 20th century
Fascinating and scenographic antique desk inkwell, enriched by a functional mechanical clock and a sculpted equestrian sculpture depicting a rider in the saddle of a moving horse.
The object, presumably dating from the early 20th century, features a cast metal structure with a brown patina, bronzed appearance.
The composition depicts a rider in equestrian attire and headgear, mounted on a dynamically posed horse, with one front leg raised.
At the base of the sculpture is inserted a circular clock with a light dial, black Arabic numerals and metal hands.
The lower part constitutes an elegant desk set with two symmetric inkwells, equipped with hinged lids and white internal cups, presumably porcelain or ceramic.
The base features bas-relief decorations inspired by naturalistic motifs and four shaped feet.
