Authentic vintage Romanian handwoven textile - Oltenian Scoarta / Laicer / Păretar runner - handwoven in Oltenia, Romania, circa 1970s.
Traditional Romanian flat-woven textile, woven on vertical wooden loom. This is a handwoven textile, not knotted, not printed, not a Turkish kilim.
Material:100% hand-spun sheep wool, wool warp, dense heavy handwoven weave
Technique: Traditional Romanian handwoven - pattern created in the weaving process
Authenticity:
Fully reversible - identical pattern on front and back, no loose threads on reverse side
Traditional Oltenian geometric pattern with 4 large central octagonal medallions on terracotta ground, in turquoise, fuchsia pink, navy blue, yellow and white. Side borders with repeating diamond motifs in fuchsia, teal, green, purple, red, yellow on black ground. Turquoise outer edge. Very vibrant natural wool colors.
Origin:Oltenia, Southern Romania
