Description from the seller
Important showcase tabernacle with an antique wooden carved frame, gilded and polychrome – Elegant Baroque-style craftsmanship, 18th-17th century - FLORENCE
Refined antique display tabernacle with notable decorative charm, characterized by a rich carved wooden structure, enriched by gilding and a suggestive polychromy in shades of sage green, dusty blue and antique gold.
The work stands out for the complex articulation of molded profiles, the elegant curves of the cornice and the elaborate scrolls and ornamental motifs, which give the whole a scenographic character and a pronounced aesthetic personality. The upper profile, animated by broken lines and sinuous junctions, culminates in a shaped ornamental element, while the gilding highlights with refined alternation the different levels of the structure.
Of particular interest is the coexistence of worn gilding and the original or antique polychromy, which creates a chromatic effect of great depth. Abrasions, craquelure and signs of time contribute to the suggestive tactile presence of the artifact, returning the charm of a decorative art object with a long history.
The composition presents stylistic features attributable to the Baroque and Late Baroque taste, with elements suggesting a possible association with 18th-century production. Precise dating, however, requires direct examination of the structure, execution techniques and any conservation interventions.
A item with notable visual impact, ideal for collectors of antique frames, antique dealers and lovers of decorative arts, particularly suited to enhance historic interiors, representative residences, private collections and eclectic interiors.
Materials: carved wood, gilding and polychromy.
Era: probably 18th century, or earlier
State of preservation: antique, with evident wear, losses of gilding, cracks and signs of time, as documented in the photographs. Restorations, color touch-ups, substitutions of antique parts are present and evident restorations obviously from the years.
A decorative object of strong character, in which the richness of the carving, the chromatic stratification and the patina confer authentic charm and notable antiquarian quality.
The tabernacle is equipped with a functioning electrical system.
Observe the entirety of the photographs, which are an integral part of this description and to see it lit up.
It was appraised at 3000 euros by an antiques dealer.
