Description from the seller
Foldable aluminum armchair, tobacco-colored leather and wood – Colombo 907
Refined foldable chair of Italian design, made by the Lombard company Colombo 907, characterized by an interesting combination of functionality, formal research, and quality materials.
The distinctive element is the particular foldable aluminum frame, light and ingenious, recalling the language of safari seating from the 1950s and 1960s, reinterpreted through a more essential and modern aesthetics. The folding configuration gives the project a practical and dynamic character, without renouncing the refinement of the shapes.
The seat, backrest, and armrests are upholstered in tobacco-colored leather, with a warm and elegant tone, in exceptional conservation conditions. The quality of the workmanship and the color pairing with the metal structure contribute to defining a sober and sophisticated ensemble.
A particularly interesting detail is represented by the wooden ends of the armrests, introducing a natural material note in contrast with the metallic surface of the aluminum. This solution could have been conceived also to make contact with the armrests more pleasant during use, avoiding the typical cold feel of metal. The wooden elements show some signs and slight surface deterioration, well documented in the photographs.
Conditions: the armchair presents overall in excellent conservation state. The leather coverings are particularly well-preserved, while the wooden ends show localized signs of wear, visible in the attached images. It is advisable to refer to the photographs for a complete assessment of the artifact’s condition.
An interesting testimony of twentieth-century Italian design, suitable for collectors and enthusiasts of vintage furniture, capable of combining constructive ingenuity, functionality, and a refined combination of materials.
