Description from the seller
Bolex Paillard C8 (8mm) – Unique handcrafted edition "Hommage aux Compositeurs" | Florentine artistic restoration.
A unique work of art: Analog cinema and artistic restoration.
We are putting up for auction an extraordinary and exclusive reinterpretation of the famous analog camera Bolex Paillard C8 (Standard 8mm format).
An icon of Swiss cinema history, transformed into a one-of-a-kind art object (1/1) by a master art and antique restorer from Florence with over 30 years of experience in the field.
The original leatherette has been removed and replaced with a new high-strength technical material. This special finish offers durability in use and is water-repellent and resistant to liquids.
Historical-artistic research: The decorative motif is the result of refined iconographic research dedicated to famous Swiss and European composers and musicians of the era (including Arthur Honegger, Frank Martin, Ernest Bloch, Joachim Raff, Othmar Schoeck), evoking an elegant musical aesthetic inspired by classical and neoclassical styles.
Prestigious finishes: The perimeter of the panels is adorned with a hand-woven golden cord, lending a touch of old-time elegance and a refined visual contrast with the satin aluminum of the body.
Technical specifications and details:
Model: Bolex Paillard C8 Serial Number: 716304 Format: 8mm film (Standard 8 / Double 8)
Lens: SOM Berthiot Lytar 1:2.5 (Made in France)
Origin: Switzerland (Sainte-Croix)
Aesthetic Condition: fair (restored piece).
Mechanical Condition: The spring-wound mechanism responds and works. It has not been tested with film, but acoustically checked, it seems to run as it should with continuous motion up to full wind.
Item sold primarily as a collectible art/ interior design / one-of-a-kind piece.
