An impressive and finely crafted antique religious reliquary pendant (pectoral cross / encolpion style) in a distinctive quadrilobed (four-foil) form, executed in warm copper-toned alloy/brass.
The front side features a central circular glass compartment (relic window / theca display) framed by an engraved hatched pattern, surrounded by four rectangular blue step-cut paste gems and four circular red faceted cabochons. The pendant is adorned with four pearl drop dangles (top suspension, side, and bottom).
The reverse side features a detailed high-relief repoussé/molded depiction of the Crucifixion scene. Christ is on the cross beneath the INRI titulus and flanked by angels, with the Virgin Mary and St. John the Apostle standing at the foot of the cross against an architectural city backdrop (Jerusalem). At the base, the Skull of Adam (Golgotha emblem) is clearly depicted.
Please note that this reliquary is offered strictly empty and does NOT contain any relic or organic material inside the compartment.
The glass compartment cover is intact.
