Carl Thieme, Potschappel - Statuette, Tamburino - 37 cm - Porcelain

This specific model is the famous "Timbalier des Grenadiers à Cheval" (drummer/timpanist of the Horse Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard of Napoleon, historically dated around 1805). Among the various manufactories in the Dresden and Thuringia area that produced historical military series, the prestigious Carl Thieme manufactory in Potschappel (historically identified with the classic Dresden mark) distinguished itself from the early 20th century precisely for the extraordinary refinement and painted detail of these Napoleonic equestrian figures. On the reverse side the Dresden mark is visible.
