AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Art Deco vase by AMC from Wasmuël, with floral spray decoration in cherry red and dove blue. The colors softly fade to the white glaze and follow the relief of an oval cartouche with flowers. The angular, tapering silhouette on two legs is modernist in design. On a sideboard or bookcase the vase adds a warm accent in a white room.

Description:

An angular, slightly tapering vase with on the front an oval relief cartouche. Inside there are two cherry-red flowers with dove-blue berries and leaves, framed by a red edge that fades to white. The foot widens into two legs with a gap between them. The back and sides are plain white, beneath a glossy glaze. In the base is the number 195, written in script.

About the maker:

Auguste Mouzin et Cie (AMC) was a faïencerie in Wasmuël, in the Borinage. Isidore Paulus started it in 1836; Auguste Mouzin took it over in 1878. Henri Meyer led the factory for forty years and is noted for shining at the Paris exhibition in 1937. After the war, tableware and household goods declined; in 1952 liquidation followed. This vase belongs to the artistic decorative works from before that shift.

In the interior:

Fits in an Art Deco, retro, or modern interior, on a sideboard or bookcase. The cherry red acts as a color accent against white or dark walls.

Condition:

Good. Front, sides and edge: no visible chips, hairline cracks, or repairs. Footed base and underside: slight soiling. The spray decoration with its soft transitions is production-specific. Gloss glaze on all sides. See the images. Offered as a decorative object, not intended for use with food.
