The Cannubi hill lies in the heart of the Barolo appellation and has always enjoyed a unique, distinctive microclimate. It is from this very site that the Nebbiolo grapes for Marchesi di Barolo’s Barolo Cannubi DOCG are sourced. The wine matures for a total of two years in a combination of barriques and large casks. It stands out for the remarkable integrity of its fruit, complemented by sumptuous tertiary notes developed during wood aging. Powerful and vigorous, it promises to evolve beautifully in the bottle if properly cellared. Ruby red in color with abundant garnet highlights. The nose is particularly intense, offering notes of ripe blackberry, sour cherry, and blueberry, followed by hints of spice, leather, tobacco, coffee, and licorice. Warm, structured, and full-bodied on the palate, it features a tannic structure that calls for further cellaring while promising fabulous future evolution. The palate mirrors the nose, offering generous persistence and an elegant, austere finish.
