Martell Napoleon Cognac Cordon Noir, 70 cl, 40% ABV, produced in France in the 1990s, from a non-mixed lot, with no original packaging.
Description from the seller
A rare, discontinued vintage bottling of Martell’s famous Cordon Noir Napoléon Cognac, dating from [1990s]. Positioned above standard V.S.O.P. and crafted from aged eaux-de-vie selected across Cognac’s top crus, this iconic dark-dressed bottle holds significant collector prestige.
An outstanding vintage bottle of Cordon Noir Napoléon Cognac from the premier house Maison Martell (est. 1715).
First introduced in 1977 and produced through the 1980s and 1990s, Cordon Noir was created as an elevated, high-tier Napoléon classification Cognac. Blended from fine eaux-de-vie aged between 15 and 20 years, sourced primarily from four of Cognac's finest growth regions (including the prized Borderies and Grande Champagne crus), it offers a rich bridge between V.S.O.P. and X.O. tiers.
Distilled using Martell’s historic method of working exclusively with clear, lees-free wines, the spirit was matured in fine-grained Tronçais oak casks. Presented in its distinctive, dark frosted bottle with black label accents and a central wax-style seal emblem, it reflects late 20th-century luxury packaging.
In the glass, it reveals a deep mahogany-copper hue with warm amber glints. The bouquet opens with rich aromas of candied orange peel, dried fig, fruitcake, toasted almonds, cocoa, polished cedar, and subtle leather notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied, silky, and harmonious, concluding with a long, elegant finish marked by lingering oak warmth and delicate baking spices.
