Elegant 800 silver teapot by Argenteria Varalda, Italy (Piemonte), dating to circa 1944–1968; weight 451 g, dimensions 19 × 22 × 14 cm, with hinged lid and four-foot pierced base.
Description from the seller
Elegant and refined teapot in solid silver, 800 (8/1000) fineness, Italian craftsmanship, dateable to the mid-20th century (circa 1944-1968).
This splendid piece features a body with twisted gadrooning of great dynamism, exquisitely executed in lavish Rococo style and enriched with scrolls, floral motifs and raised acanthus leaves. The teapot rests firmly on a beautiful pierced four-foot base, whose carved details echo the overall design of the object. The handle, finely sculpted, offers an ergonomic and comfortable grip, while the hinged lid is topped by a decorative knob with organic motifs.
Stamps and Authentication:
The piece is fully stamped on the body/base:
800 inside an oval cartouche, certifying the silver fineness 800/1000. 17 VC inside a lozenge (without the fasces, which allows dating precisely between 1944 and 1968). This mark indicates registration at the famous Argenteria Varalda factory of Vercelli, Piedmont.
Dimensions and Weight:
Total weight: 451 grams
Condition:
The teapot is in excellent vintage condition, fully functional, with a well-seated lid and perfect hinge. It shows a beautiful patina of time, minor surface wear and light micro-scratches consistent with limited domestic use. No significant dents, deep cracks, or modern restorations. Please view the detailed photographs carefully for an accurate assessment of the condition and the hallmarks.
A magnificent example of postwar Italian silversmith craftsmanship, ideal for collectors, antique tea sets, or as an important decorative piece.
