Description from the seller
Eugenio Carmi - "Electric Imaginary Signal 23" - Light-box in Plexiglas - 1970 - Edizioni del Deposito (Genova)
An extraordinary and rare piece of Italian kinetic design and Space Age: an original Plexiglas light box titled "Electric Imaginary Signal 23" (model ELQ 1), designed by the renowned Italian artist Eugenio Carmi in 1970.
This historic multiple was produced in a limited edition of 200 units by the avant-garde cooperative "Edizioni del Deposito" (Genova).
This specific lot is number 31 out of 200 (No. 31/200).
Authenticity: The original paper label from Edizioni del Deposito is perfectly preserved on the back, hand-signed in pencil by Eugenio Carmi himself, with all technical specifications.
Condition and Operation: The lamp is fully functional and lights up magnificently, as shown in the photos. The front translucent geometric levels (gray, red, green, blue) project a vibrant, atmospheric light in contrast with the glossy black frame.
The light-box is in vintage condition overall very good, with bright colors and a solid structure. Being a vintage Plexiglas object over 50 years old, it shows small and normal signs of wear. Specifically, there is a micro-crack (fracture line) on the black edge near one of the rear mounting screws (clearly highlighted in the detailed macro photos). This does not affect the structural integrity nor the extraordinary visual impact of the front.
The item will be professionally and carefully packed using high-strength bubble wrap and a double-box system.
