Description from the seller
No reserve price!
Art Nouveau Table Mirror with Vines Motifs, Art Nouveau / Aesthetic Movement, Late 19th Century (c. 1890 – 1905).
Rare and elegant decorative dressing table mirror, dated to the late 19th century, aligned with the Art Nouveau and Aesthetic Movement aesthetic. The openwork frame in a noble metal alloy (bronze/brass) features a detailed sculptural work, depicting a wild vine with leaves and fruits that harmoniously wrap around the frame. It rests on a movable rear support foot, in an easel-like shape, fully functional.
The original silvered glass mirror is thick, with a high-quality beveled edge finish. It stands out for the genuine wear of its mercury layer, showing pronounced natural oxidation and age spots, a feature highly valued in the antiques market as evidence of authenticity and the passage of time of the piece.
Frame: in good decorative condition, presenting the original intact dark patina and no breaks in the casting.
Glass: intact (no cracks or chips), with strong wear to the reflective silver/mercury layer, giving a historic and authentic distressed appearance.
