AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Audiolab Candor II CD Vintage Hi-Fi loudspeakers – Dutch craftsmanship with Vifa drivers
Description:
For sale is a real highlight for vintage hi-fi enthusiasts: A pair of Audiolab Candor II CD stand/monitor speakers.
Important note upfront: These speakers are not from the British electronics brand, but from the eponymous, then-renowned Audiolab in Utrecht (Netherlands), which in the 1980s and 1990s was known for its phase-correct and extremely cleanly tuned speakers. The “CD” in the name stood at the time for optimization for the then-new, high-resolution digital CD medium.
Sound & Tech:
Sound-wise, the Candor II sound incredibly honest, neutral and direct. They are ideal for jazz, classical, pop and acoustic music. They are equipped with the legendary, parallel-connected Vifa C17 woofers, which provide an incredibly controlled and deep bass foundation without being intrusive. Thanks to the forward-facing bass reflex port, they are also relatively forgiving when placed close to a wall.
• Construction: 2-way system, phase-correct driver arrangement
• Power handling: 60 Watts continuous / 120 Watts music power at 4 Ohms
• Weight: approx. 15 kg per cabinet (very solid, low-resonance enclosure)
• Design highlight: The speakers feature the characteristic elegant glass top plate.
Condition
• Technical: Excellent. The surrounds of the Vifa drivers are in top condition and not porous. All drivers operate cleanly and without crackling.
• Cosmetic: Very good used condition with age-related veneer wear (see photos). The glass top plates are intact.
