Description from the seller
Antique child’s chair "Venezia" in solid wood – Early 20th century
On auction, a rare and fascinating miniature chair for a child, model "Venezia" (also known as rustic or country chair), dating to the first half of the 20th century. Entirely made of solid wood, this seat is distinguished by the typical artisanal craftsmanship of the era, characterized by a weight of about 3600 g and by structural sturdiness.
The item has previously undergone a color customization with a brush-applied sky-blue finish, which enhances its rustic lines and gives it a Shabby Chic / Country vibe with strong visual impact. An antique piece ideal for period children’s rooms, as a collectible item or as an exclusive decorative element for shop windows and refined interiors.
• Era: Early 20th century (ca. 1900-1920)
• Material: Heavy solid wood
• Overall height: 69 cm
• Width: 36 cm
• Depth: 36 cm
• Weight: about 3 kg
• Finish: Hand-brushed lacquer
The chair remains structurally solid and stable, an exceptional factor considering the era and its original use (childhood). It bears evident and patinated signs of time that certify its authenticity and historicity.
Please carefully view the photo gallery, an integral part of the description, where the following are highlighted:
• The typical visible round wood joints at the connection of the uprights and legs, characteristic of early-century assembly techniques.
• Natural wood cracks and joint lines partially open due to time.
• Irregularities, thicknesses and vintage varnish drips resulting from the manual brush application.
• Fascinating color fades localized on the edges and at the sharp edges, revealing the underlying wood patina.
An ideal lot for both collectors who want to keep it in its current "lived-in" state and lovers of conservative restoration.
