Description from the seller
Märklin, Minex 0e - 3400 - Tender locomotive (1) - Narrow-gauge locomotive "2s"
Built by A Borsig Berlin'
Tested and working
Front ends at the front
3 axles driven
In 1970 Märklin surprised the trades at the Nuremberg Toy Fair with a narrow-gauge railway named Minex in gauge 0e (1:45), corresponding to a track width of 750 mm. These narrow-gauge locomotives, wagons and cars can run on the well-known Märklin h0 rails with the “3-rail system” (M-rail). The name Minex was already used once by Märklin from 1938 to 1941 for a metal construction kit of aluminium. In 1972 production of Minex was stopped again. As unexpectedly as they came into Märklin’s assortment, they disappeared just as suddenly.
The MINEX 3400 steam locomotive is the narrow-gauge tender locomotive of the “Württenbergische Eisenbahngesellschaft (WEG)” with wheel arrangement C depicted. The original operated on a track gauge of 1000 mm. Minex, however (converted to the example), is with a track gauge of 750 mm. Thus, the model is not entirely correct in this respect. At the former “Südwestdeutschen Eisenbahngesellschaft (SWEG)”, or the “Jagsttalbahn”, with its 750 mm gauge, there was also a tender locomotive with wheel arrangement C (Helene) in operation, which also shows certain similarities.
The model is, for the possibilities at the time, already very detailed. Especially the various boiler fittings are purely worked out on the boiler. The bell is made of brass and is mounted on top. The Allan-type slide valves are precisely reproduced. The chassis is made by zinc spraying and all axles are powered. To enhance the tractive effort, the rear wheels are equipped with slip rings. At the front there is a three-point light signal that is illuminated during travel. In the cab there is a driver. On both sides is an automatic coupling (RELEX) mounted. The locomotive was delivered by Märklin in the usual cardboard packaging with styrofoam insert.
