Description from the seller
Miniature Tailor's Bust from the 1920s – Pin Cushion / Salesman Sample (H 29 cm, base diameter 6.5 cm)
Fascinating miniature tailor’s mannequin dating from the 1920s (Art Deco era), ideal for collectors of textile antique, vintage sewing notions, or as an exclusive vintage decor piece.
This splendid piece, exactly 29 cm tall, is not a modern reproduction but an authentic antique item. In the early 20th century, busts of this size were used in millinery workshops as refined desk pin cushions, in haberdasher displays to showcase laces and jewelry, or by itinerant tailors as a demonstrative model (salesman sample).
• Era: About 1920
• Covering: Original cotton fabric with vertical blue/black and cream stripes, robust and well-preserved. The interior padding is period-appropriate. Hand-sewn.
• Structure: Circular base and neck knob finely turned in painted wood, solid and stable.
• Condition: Excellent vintage condition for the age of the item. The fabric shows no tears or significant wear, preserving a beautiful patina that attests to its authenticity, with a slightly yellowed color and a few small stains. The wood may have undergone a touch-up in an undetermined period.
A small masterpiece of craftsmanship from earlier times, perfect to display on a desk, in a bookcase, or beside an antique sewing machine.
Photos are an integral part of the description; shipping will be fast and insured for full value. We do not ship outside Europe.
