Description from the seller
Royal Dux Bohemia - Pair of Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) vases with floral relief decoration - Circa 1900
A beautiful and rare matching pair of antique Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) vases, made by the renowned porcelain factory Royal Dux Bohemia around 1900.
The vases are executed in an elegant amphora shape with two graceful, organically shaped handles. The porcelain has a characteristic ivory/cream base color and is adorned with a very refined relief decoration of leaves, branches and flower buds. The whole is skillfully hand-painted in subtle, matte olive green and soft brown tones, accented with refined gold details.
Both vases are on the underside fully and identically marked, which guarantees authenticity and originality as a set:
• Marked with the iconic pink triangle of unglazed biscuit porcelain, bearing the letter 'E' in the center (referring to Eduard Eichler, used in the period 1900-1914).
• Blind-stamped model number: 5511
• Blind-stamped letter: I
• Hand-painted painter’s number: 72.
Fully intact. The vases are in exceptionally good antique condition. No chips, no restorations, no hairlines, and no breakage to the fragile floral relief. This is extremely rare for porcelain with this type of fine, exquisite details from this period. The gold and color accents have been beautifully preserved.
