Description from the seller

Roman bronze brooch with decoration — 2nd–3rd centuries AD.

Period: Roman Empire.
Dating: 2nd–3rd centuries AD.
Material: Bronze.
Typology: Diamond rhomboidal plate brooch.

Interesting Roman brooch made in cast bronze, with an elegant geometric rhomboidal design, with four extensions ending in small ornamental widenings.

Brooches were one of the most characteristic accessories of Roman dress, combining their practical function with an important ornamental component.

Conservation status: Maintains its main structure and good definition of the decorative motifs. Presents an attractive archaeological patina of green and brown tones, with mineral deposits and signs of age.

An interesting example of Roman ornamental metalwork, especially attractive for its geometric composition and concentric decoration.
