One handcrafted French 1950s bistrot outdoor armchair in verde and beige rattan, bamboo and wood, in excellent vintage condition with very slight signs of wear and age.
Description from the seller
Refined and elegant bistro/dé hors chair in a Parisian/Côte d’Azur style, dating from the mid-20th century (circa 1950–1960). An unfailing classic of European modern design, perfect for enhancing winter gardens, verandas, or interiors with a chic retro flair.
The chair is entirely handmade according to ancient high-artisanal French techniques (attributed to historic ateliers such as Maison Louis Drucker or Maison Gatti). The sculpted frame in natural rattan vines supports a complex and elaborate multicolor weaving, characterized by an elegant chevron geometric pattern in forest green and caramel tones.
Unlike contemporary reproductions that use plastic materials, this piece is 100% made of organic plant fibers (reed cortex and rattan core), a feature that attests to its authenticity and era. Splendid structural reinforcement bindings and the solid X-shaped lower junction crisscross, enriched by artisanal riveting.
Condition:
The item presents itself in excellent overall vintage condition. The structure is perfectly stable, robust and solid. The original weave is intact, well-tensed and shows no breaks or collapses. The wood displays a beautiful warm amber patina of time that enhances its historical charm. Very light signs of wear consistent with age and use (please examine carefully the photographic gallery that is an integral part of the description).
