Description from the seller

Elegant, luxurious sugar urn in the form of a classic vase (sockerurna). Originating from Sweden in the first half of the 20th century (estimated production years: 1920–1940) and representing the Scandinavian Gustavian (Neoclassical) style.

Premium version: The interior of both the bowl and the lid has original factory gilding (vermeil). The golden lining not only protected the metal from the effects of sugar and moisture but also creates a striking, luxurious visual contrast with the mirror-polished exterior silvering.

The sugar urn is characterized by beautiful, slender loop handles, a stable square base, and an ornamental tall lid with a factory-made notch for a spoon. The rims feature precise beading, while the lower part of the bowl has elegant fluting.

The piece retains a complete set of original national and artisan marks (pun ca), confirming its authenticity and quality:

- GAB – the mark of the renowned Swedish manufactory Guldsmedsaktiebolaget from Stockholm, famed for producing top-tier luxury items.
- Kattfot (Three Crowns in an oval) – the official Swedish state control mark for luxury goods.
- NS (Nysilver) – the Swedish designation for premium silver-plated ware. It denotes a thick, durable layer of pure silver electroplated onto a solid alpaca (nickel silver) base.
- S & G – the hallmark of the prestigious jewelry salon/retailer where the item was originally purchased.

Condition:
Very good antique condition. The thick exterior silvering shines beautifully. The original interior gilding (vermeil) is preserved in excellent condition. The vessel is 100% complete, structurally stable, with no dents, deep scratches, or cracks, showing only a natural, noble patina.

A magnificent, stately decorative piece for an elegant dining table or an antique display cabinet, perfect for discerning connoisseurs of historical Swedish silversmithing.

Dimensions:
• Overall height (including lid): 26 cm
• Overall width (handle to handle): 20.5 cm
• Depth: 12 cm
• Weight: 480 g
