Cave Bear - Fossil skull - Ursus spelaeus - 28 cm - 2 cm (No reserve price)

A rare left lower jaw of a cave bear, originating from the famous Baume de Gigny site in the French Jura. This cave is known for its rich archaeological finds, including evidence of Neanderthal habitation.

Due to the presence of an underground river in the cave, many of the found fossils have been somewhat worn by water erosion, which gives this specimen a unique character. This impressive fossil of 28x8.7x2cm was part of an old French collection and is an exceptional addition for any collector of prehistoric fauna or archaeological artifacts.
