About the maker:
AMC is the brand name of Auguste Mouzin et Cie, a earthenware factory in Wasmuël, in the Borinage. Isidore Paulus started it in 1836; Auguste Mouzin took over in 1878. The factory made clocks and vases in Art Deco forms, numbered per model. The Clockarium in Brussels shows model 195 in another decor, as a pair with two vases. In 1952 liquidation followed.
In interior design:
Fits an Art Deco, retro or modern interior, on a mantelpiece, sideboard or bookshelf. The cherry red provides a warm accent against white or dark walls.
Condition:
Good. Front: here and there minor damage to the sprayed decoration, no flaking at the edges. Dial: stained. On the right of the bezel: a fine line and a discolored spot in the glaze. The soft gradient of the decor is production-related. The mechanical clockwork does not run. See the images. Offered as a decorative object, technically works not at present.
