Description from the seller

Teotihuacan Terracotta Head with Modelled Headdress – 3rd to 7th Century AD

A small Teotihuacan terracotta head fragment retaining a short neck section and the remains of a broad headdress around the upper face. Curved bands frame the forehead, while the eyes, nose and mouth survive in softened relief beneath substantial surface wear. The compact proportions and projecting lateral elements give the head a distinctive sculptural outline. Its pale buff and grey-brown surface shows encrustations, chips and irregular breaks, particularly around the face and the lower neck. Presented on a later square wooden mount, the fragment remains visually distinct from its display support. It is accompanied by a copy of the original typewritten document signed by Dr. Dieter Eisleb of the Staatliche Museen Preußischer Kulturbesitz, Berlin from the 20th of March 1984.

Material: Terracotta; later wooden display mount
Dimensions: 8 x 8 cm total
