Description from the seller
Maria, Virgo Potens - J. Boedts – patinated plaster – Belgium – circa 1930–1950
Professionally shipped – more than 1000 five-star reviews worldwide.
Sculpture of Mary as the Mighty Virgin. The title refers to Mary’s powerful intercession, as invoked in the Litany of Loreto. With raised gaze she bears a globe on her chest, a pose that suggests she entrusts the world to God. The elongated figure is enveloped by a mantle with narrow pleats. Executed with a bronze-colored finish.
Height 43 cm; signed “J. Boedts”, by the Belgian sculptor Jan Boedts, who mainly produced religious sculptures, and bearing the inscription “Virgo Potens”. In good overall condition with normal age-related marks. Possibly previously repaired from a crack.
Please view the photos carefully, they are part of the description.
Shipped with track & trace.
