AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
For sale is this impressive bronze sculpture of a Chinese dragon, also called Long, from an inherited Asian collection.
The 36 cm tall figure shows a powerfully portrayed dragon with an artfully curved, scaled body, opened mouth, long beard strands, pronounced claws and a highly upright tail.
The dragon rises from an elaborately designed pedestal with stylized waves. Notably the numerous finely worked details, including the individual scales, the back spines, the facial features, as well as the decorative embellishments of the body, stand out.
The gold-colored bronze surface shows darker recesses and, in places, greenish patination, which makes the plastic details especially come to life.
In Chinese culture, the dragon is regarded as an important symbol of strength, power, luck and prosperity.
