Description from the seller
Antique Jugendstil - Art Deco porcelain bonbon dish with silver-plated mount – Porzellanfabrik Moschendorf, Bavaria – ca. 1900–1910.
Magnificent and rare antique Jugendstil - Art Deco double bonbon dish / cabaret dish made of white porcelain, featuring an elegant, organically shaped silver-plated mount with a central handle.
The porcelain bears on the underside the authentic green factory stamp of the renowned Porzellanfabrik Moschendorf (based in Hof-Moschendorf, Bavaria, Germany).
This specific mark – a crowned shield with laurel and the initials 'P.M.' – was used exclusively in the heyday of Jugendstil, between 1900 and 1910.
The dish is a textbook example of early Art Deco.
The silvered metalwork winds in an organic, flowing manner around the edges of the porcelain and forms a graceful, open-work handle in the center. This type of dishes was used around the turn of the century for luxuriously serving bonbons, confections, or nuts.
In exceptionally good, nearly perfect antique condition.
Porcelain: completely intact. Absolutely free from chips, hairlines, restorations or cracks.
The porcelain is bright white.
The silver mount is in strikingly beautiful condition and shows no wear or bare spots.
The metal has a wonderful, authentic patina that emphasizes its age.
A splendid and readily displayable collector's item for enthusiasts of Bavarian porcelain and early 20th-century applied arts.
