Reliquary - Brass, Glass, Textile - 1850-1900 - Holy Cross, Crown of Thorns of Our Lord Jesus Christ + 12 Apostles

Splendid reliquary from the late 19th century, custodian of an important and exceptional collection of Christian relics.
The reliquary is made with a brass mounting and enriched by a refined internal composition in gilded filigree with floral motifs and scrolls, carefully handcrafted to frame and enhance the relics on a red fabric background.
Contents of the Relics:
In the center are placed two main oval medallions:
S. Crucis D.N.J.C.: Fragment of the Holy Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the shape of a cross.
Ex Spina D.N.J.C.: Fragment of the Holy Spine of the Crown of Christ.
Around the two central medallions are symmetrically arranged the relics of the 12 Apostles, each accompanied by its own Latin identifying cartouche.
The back of the reliquary is sealed with the cardinal seal in red wax.
