China Pekin Aubusson rug, wool on cotton, 257 × 164 cm, dating from the 1950s–1960s in China, with hand-tufted construction and an elegant floral Aubusson design, overall in very good condition for its age though the rear lining shows stains.
Description from the seller
Antique Chinese rug – Aubusson floral style – 1950-1960 – 257 × 164 cm
We present an elegant antique Chinese rug, made between 1950-1960, with a refined floral Aubusson-inspired design.
The rug is crafted using an ancient manual tufting technique, in which the wool tufts are worked by hand on a cotton base. On the reverse, the structure is stabilized with a traditional fixing compound that keeps the tufts in place, and finally protected by a textile lining.
The pile is worked and trimmed by hand, creating the beautiful relief characteristic of this type of rug. It features a very elegant decoration, with a large central floral medallion and numerous floral and leaf motifs, combined in soft tones of green, beige, pink and brown.
Origin: China
Period: 1950-1960
Dimensions: 257 × 164 cm

The rug is in very good condition considering its age. It preserves the pile well and shows no breaks or significant wear.
The reverse’s protective lining has stains and signs of aging, clearly visible in the photographs. For this reason, we recommend a professional cleaning.
A beautiful antique Chinese rug, with great decorative presence, featuring attractive relief work and an elegant color combination.
