Description from the seller
Roman bronze ornamental plaque with a central knob — 1st–2nd centuries AD.
Proposed period: Roman Empire.
Material: Bronze.
Typology: Circular ornamental plaque with rear fixation system.
An interesting bronze plaque of circular shape, characterized by an elegant design of concentric circles in relief, arranged around a prominent central button with a flat termination.
The composition features a carefully defined outer rim and a slightly concave surface, which accentuates the volume of the central element.
On the reverse, it preserves traces of the ancient fixation system, characteristic of metal fittings used to ornament wooden surfaces, furniture, and other structures.
The piece displays an attractive green and brown patina, with mineral deposits, wear, and signs of age.
Condition: Good integrity of the disk and its decoration, with deterioration of the rear fixation element.
An interesting example of small-scale ornamental metalwork with Roman tradition, especially attractive for its geometric balance and its preservation.
